How to Spend the Perfect Morning in Prince Edward County

Most travel guides tell you how to cram as much as possible into a weekend, but Prince Edward County asks something different.
Slow down: sleep in a little, walk instead of drive, skip the itinerary, wander into the shop that catches your eye, order another coffee and buy the flowers because they’re pretty (and that’s the only reason you need).
Some of our favourite County memories haven't happened because we planned them…they happened because we had nowhere else to be.
So, here's how we'd spend a perfect morning…
8:30 AM - Coffee first.
Whether you're staying in Bloomfield, Wellington or Picton, the first stop is always coffee, and as a mom of two, isn’t it always?
IMPORTANT: this isn't drive-thru coffee. Sip it slowly on a patio while watching the town wake up around you. It’s the perfect way to start the day.
Local Faves:
9:15 AM - Wander.
The County rewards people who wander, so leave your phone in your pocket, walk into the bookstore, the flower shop and the boutique with the handmade ceramics sitting beside Canadian-made linen. You'll probably leave with something you never intended to buy, but that's kind of the point. Opportunities to support local are everywhere in the County.

10:30 AM - Meet the people behind the shops.
In my opinion, one of the best parts of shopping in PEC is that the owners are often the ones greeting you which is the perfect opportunity to ask questions like: where was this made, who's the artist, what's new this season? It’s conversations like these that become part of the trip and the ones you’ll remember long after you’re home again.
11:30 AM - Pick up something for later.
One of our favourite traditions is leaving a little extra room in the car for the things that let the weekend linger long after you've unpacked.
A loaf of fresh bread and locally made cheese to share with friends, or a bottle of County cider waiting for the next backyard dinner. A jar of local honey for your morning tea, or fresh flowers brightening your kitchen table all week.
The best things to bring home are the ones that become part of your everyday life, transporting you back to The County every time you use them.

The best mornings in Prince Edward County don't end because you've checked everything off your list. They end because, well, mornings do…but mostly because somewhere around lunchtime, you realize you're no longer looking at your phone, or checking your watch - you’re just there.
And maybe that's what keeps so many Canadians coming back for more.
