Contemporary Artist & Founder, Karen Bramhill Creative House

Karen Bramhill is a contemporary painter based in Ottawa, Ontario whose work explores identity, aliveness and becoming. Her portraits and figurative paintings primarily feature women, exploring the stories, pressures and unspoken truths revealed through body language, gesture and expression.

A self-taught artist, Karen returned to painting after years of building the “serious” career she thought she was supposed to want. Her practice took a defining turn after a 2024 trip to Portugal, inspiring her to combine hand-carved linocut patterns with portraiture and develop a distinctive visual language at the intersection of fine art and design.

Her work is held in private collections internationally. In 2026, she received Wallack’s Best 2D Art in Show at Art in the Park, Ottawa, and was juried into ART COMP 2026, one of Canada’s largest art competitions.

Karen is also the founder of Karen Bramhill Creative House, built around a simple idea: we are meant to live fully alive. Through art, creativity and self-expression, she invites people to stop performing who they think they are supposed to be and start living more fully as themselves.
