Written by Bailey Kennedy

This is a segment of Travel the North where we hand you your guide to exploring Canada comfortably. We spotlight Canadian businesses, regional escapes, and the trips worth taking.

Our team at By The North had the pleasure of interviewing Wuxly founder James Yurichuk on their new collaboration with Canadian singer/ songwriter Bryan Adams. Check out the interview below to learn why this line is so important and how it is perfect for the Canadian on the go. Whether you are traveling across the country, on frequent road. trips, or hopping across town to meetings all day, the BAD line is built for people on the go.

Bryan’s schedule informed how each garment performs, from modular features and concealed-carry details to adaptive insulation and ergonomic shaping. These are not fashion pieces; they’re field-ready layers built to transition seamlessly between climates, time zones, and environments.

Man wearing The Next-Gen Leather Jacket from the BAD line by Wuxly x Bryan Adams

BTN: This isn’t your first collaboration with Bryan Adams- it’s your third! Thats a unique position to be in. How has that relationship evolved from the first collection?

James: Over time, it’s become instinctive. Bryan is wonderful to work with, and he approaches creativity with the same intensity that we bring to engineering. I think its a reflection of Canadian innovation and craftsmanship when we can come together with those shared values of detail, integrity, and execution.

BTN: The BAD line is a collection of six versatile pieces. Can you share how Bryan’s life on the go and his overall lifestyle influenced the pieces?

James: Bryan’s schedule informed how each garment performs, from modular features and concealed-carry details to adaptive insulation and ergonomic shaping. He is in constant motion and that demands reliability so we built field-ready layers built to transition seamlessly between climates, time zones, and environments.

BTN: This collaboration isn’t just about fashion; it’s built on shared values like sustainability, creativity, and veganism. How did these principles shape the creative process from concept to final product?

James: Every material and decision we chose for the collection had to meet Wuxly’s operational standards: animal-free, ethically made, and locally built. We produce using a small-batch Canadian production system, so allows us total control and accountability.

BTN: Bryan has lived a vegan lifestyle for over 30 years. How does this commitment align with Wuxly’s mission, and how is this reflected in the materials and craftsmanship of the collection?

James: Bryans commitment to veganism and compassion aligns directly with Wuxly’s purpose: performance without harm. The collection uses BANBÜ™ plant-based leather and Sorona® bio-based insulation, both cruelty-free and high-function to deliver warmth, strength, and durability without compromise.

BTN: How do you approach creating garments that embody that timeless style element this collection is anchored in?

James: Our philosophy is that longevity is a byproduct of precision. When materials, structure, and proportion are balanced, the design endures. We build primarily for service life, not trend cycles because we believe that true timelessness is engineered within the garment.

BTN: As Wuxly continues to redefine outerwear with purpose, what do you envision for the future of sustainable fashion? Will there be a continued focus on celebrating Canadian artists?

James: For us, sustainability is a constant pursuit. We are continuously striving towards seeking better materials, cleaner manufacturing, and long-term product performance. We are committed to keep advancing our local production and partnering with Canadian creators who share our values of integrity and responsibility.

BTN: What piece are you most proud of in this collection and how do you style it as part of your every day look?

James: I am most proud of The Next-Gen Leather Jacket. I think this piece defines the collection. It is refined, built with BANBÜ™ plant-based leather, it’s light, structured, and fully animal-free. It carries the same precision and restraint as the rest of the capsule—performance you can rely on, design that earns longevity through function.

BTN: Can you tell me a little about your trade up program?

James: Our trade up program is a commitment we made to customers. They can return their pre-loved Wuxly gear, and we repair, repurpose, or recycle it through certified channels. Nothing wasted, everything accounted for. It’s our way of closing the loop—operational sustainability in action.
