5 Tips to Ensure Your Super Bowl Party is a Success. Plus: How to Make it Canadian.
Although the Super Bowl is an American event, an estimated 16 million Canadians will gather and tune in every year. If you’re hosting or bringing an app to a party, read on for our top tips, recipes and recommendations to make it an All-Canadian Super Bowl Party.
Drinks Ready For Kick-Off
Make it easier on yourself as the host and encourage your guests to help themselves. Best way to do this? Make sure the drinks are easily accessible. Ensure the fridge is stocked, have a container filled with ice and drinks that are easy to grab, and if all else fails, put the beers outside in the snow for a quick porch door grab. Is there anything more Canadian than using our natural fridge for good?
Try These Canadian Classics:
Offer Something Different:
Non-Boring Non-Alcoholic Options:
Don’t Bench the Appliances
If you got ‘em, use em! Make things easier on yourself - plan to use the oven for an appetizer, the crockpot for another, and if you have an air fryer, use that too! Snacks being prepared in parallel will take the pressure off of you and make you look like a super host!

Ready to make an appliance upgrade? Check out Salton’s - it’s 100% Canadian-owned and operated, with roots in Canada dating back to 1945.
End zones? Set up your Own Party Zones
You need your tv seating zone, food zone and drink zone. Your guests will know exactly where to go for what they need. Make sure there’s enough seating options to view the tv, but also, if you have the space, include seating options in the food zone for those who are just there for the snacks (hi, it’s me).
Snacks that Never Miss a Play
Super Bowl is all about easy-to-grab-with-your-hands-type of food. No cutlery tonight! Pre-made goodies take a lot of the pressure off of you. Serve them in bowls and on trays (do this before guests arrive and it’s another item off the to do list!).
Look Out For These Fan Favourites:
Appetizers Worthy of a Touchdown
I know they say you can’t please everyone, and in today’s food scene, it’s not an easy feat. You probably have a few food preferences, restrictions, allergies or intolerances in your group of friends and family, so try to align recipes that make everyone happy. Include identifier cards that signal if something is “gluten-free” or “dairy-free”. Your guests will appreciate this more than you think.
Get Inspired:
TACOS: Tacos are a crowd-pleaser as you can offer options for everyone! Make it gluten-friendly by offering corn tortillas alongside flour ones. Make it dairy-free friendly by keeping any dairy products separate (cheese/sauces). You can offer vegan protein, ground-beef, and shrimp. Looking for more inspo? Check out fellow Canadian Jillian Harris’ vegan taco boats.
CAULIFLOWER BITES: You can cheat and pick up cauliflower bites from Canadian-owned M&M’s - vegan and gluten-free, and fantastic when cooked in your oven or air-fryer.
MEATBALLS: Prep your favourite meatballs (but smaller) in the slow cooker and add your favourite BBQ sauce on top (we love the sauce options from Good Food for Good). You can substitute gluten-free flour or breadcrumbs to make them gluten-free. Bonus points if you can borrow a friend’s slow cooker and serve vegetarian meatballs too (look in your freezer aisle for pre-made options). Tip: include long toothpicks beside the cookers so guests can spear their choice.
NACHOS: Use your oven or air fryer and easily make a few varieties to accommodate everyone: spice-lovers, vegetarians. You could even make one version with dairy-free cheese. Need inspo? Check out Basics with Bails’ nacho recipe.
Enjoy the game and good company with friends!
