I Tried Face Taping for 30 Days. Here's What I Learned.
Written by Rebecca Tate
Face taping has quickly become one of social media’s most talked-about beauty trends, with claims it can smooth fine lines, reduce wrinkles, and even rival more invasive treatments. But does it actually work? As a breastfeeding mom looking for a Botox alternative, I decided to put one of Canada’s most popular face taping brands to the test. Here’s what happened after 30 nights of sleeping with tape on my face.✌🏼
I'll admit it: I was skeptical.
As someone who has always leaned more toward simple skincare than elaborate routines, the idea of taping my face every night sounded...unlikely. Social media promised everything from smoother skin to fewer wrinkles, but I wasn't convinced pieces of adhesive could make much of a difference.
Still, there was one thing that made me genuinely curious…
I'm currently breastfeeding my son, which means Botox isn't an option for me right now. While many healthcare providers recommend waiting until after breastfeeding due to the lack of research on its safety during lactation, I still wanted something that made me feel like I was taking care of myself. Not because I felt pressure to look ‘younger’, but because motherhood has a way of making you forget that you're allowed to invest in yourself, too.

So, when I came across Tapeher, a Canadian brand focused on mouth and face taping, I decided to give it an honest shot. I had already been mouth taping for awhile using this brand, and I found (when I remembered to do it), I did sleep better, and my Oura ring proved it, too.
For 30 days, I committed to wearing the face tape every night. Here's what happened:

First Impressions
The first surprise? It wasn't nearly as complicated as I expected. After a couple of nights, applying the tape became part of my bedtime routine. Clean skin, a few extra seconds in front of the mirror, and then off to bed.
I'll be honest…it feels a little funny the first time you catch your reflection. Sleeping with tape on your face isn't something most of us imagined doing. But after the first few nights, I barely noticed it and the only reminder that it was even there was my 3.5 year old daughter asking to ‘take off my face sticker’ in the morning.
Did It Work?
The biggest change wasn't waking up looking ten years younger. And honestly, I wouldn't expect that from anything (even Botox).
What I did notice was that my skin looked smoother when I woke up, particularly across my forehead. The lines that tend to become more noticeable after a stressful day with two young kids appeared softer in the morning, and over the month I found my skin looked a little more rested.
Were the results dramatic? No. Were they noticeable enough that I kept reaching for the tape every night? Absolutely.
For me, face taping wasn't about chasing perfection. It was about creating a small ritual that made me feel like I was doing something for myself during a season of life that's largely focused on everyone else.
The Part I Didn't Expect
The routine itself became something I genuinely enjoyed.
Motherhood can make self-care feel like another task on the list, but this didn't. It took only a few minutes, gave me an excuse to slow down before bed, and reminded me that looking after myself doesn't always have to mean expensive treatments or hours at a spa (which I also enjoy…I’m just a girl, after all).
As someone who can't choose injectables right now, I appreciated having an alternative that fit where I am in life.

Is Face Taping a Replacement for Botox?
In my opinion, having done both, no. And I don't think it needs to be. They're completely different approaches with different results.
If you're expecting face taping to deliver the same outcome as cosmetic injectables, you'll probably be disappointed. But if you're looking for a non-invasive option that can temporarily smooth the appearance of fine lines, encourage consistency in your skincare routine, and simply make you feel a little more put together, I understand why so many people are giving it a try.
Final Thoughts
After 30 days, I'll keep using Tapeher. Not because I think it's a miracle product, but because I genuinely enjoyed the experience. It gave me a few quiet minutes at the end of the day, made me feel like I was taking care of myself during a season when that often falls to the bottom of the list, and I liked what I saw in the mirror each morning.
For this chapter of life, as a breastfeeding mom looking for simple, non-invasive ways to feel a little more like myself, it's earned a place in my nighttime routine.
