Luxury Accommodation at Niche Winery: A Hidden Gem in the Okanagan

The Okanagan Valley in British Columbia is known for its stunning beaches, scenic hiking trails and of course the world class wineries. And if you are a wine lover like me, the wineries are at the top of that list. Gaining popularity is the addition of accommodations at many of these wineries to ensure a truly immersive experience of relaxation and luxury and we are here for it!
One of our favourites that we discovered only a few years ago is Niche Winery, not only for the fantastic wine and incredible cabins, but for the hospitality and welcoming atmosphere that you immediately feel upon arrival. Owned and operated by James and Joanna Schlosser, what started as a small, family run operation has grown into a boutique winery nestled in the hillside amongst the vineyards. The recent addition of "The Outside Inn" cabins have added so much to the property making it a truly immersive experience.
We discovered Niche Winery back in 2022 when Ryan and I were out for a drive looking for new places to explore in our city and particularly, new wineries to discover. We stumbled upon this unassuming winery in the hills near a local and much loved hiking trail. Excited at the prospect of a "new to us" winery, we decided to go in for a tasting to see how the wine measured up to the award winning wines that we are used to consuming in the Okanagan Valley.
The property sits 620 meters above the valley floor with stunning views of Okanagan Lake and the Monashee Mountain Range. It also overlooks the extinct volcano of Mount Boucherie.
This is a family-run farm where sustainability is just as important as the wine they produce. The wine shop is small and cozy with options to taste wines at one of the barrel tables or enjoy the views from the patio overlooking the valley.

The Space
The cabins themselves come with fully tinted glass and are staggered to allow for complete privacy from one another. There are a total of 3 on the property, located on the edge of the vineyards facing out towards the incredible valley views. You are surrounded by nature and can be guaranteed complete solitude during your stay.
When you enter into the cabins you are met with clean lines and welcoming modern wood finishes. It feels both luxurious and unpretentious at the same time.
The floor to ceiling windows are the real show stopper, revealing breathtaking views of the valley. Two chairs invite you to enjoy your complimentary bottle of wine upon arrival.
Adjacent to the luxurious bed is a fully stocked coffee bar and wine fridge (yes I said fully stocked!). Choose a record from the collection and listen to some vintage music to set the tone of this laid back escape.
Turn to your left and enter the bathroom which is much more than what is seems. Complete with a rain shower and a deep soaker tub, it is truly a place to unwind. Relaxing with some bath salts or bubbles and a glass of wine is essential.
Completing the space is a projector so you can enjoy a favourite show or movie at the end of the day.
In the morning, enjoy a complimentary breakfast from local artisans that is ever changing with the seasons. We had local jam, muffins and smoothies which was the perfect start to a day of exploring the Okanagan Valley.

The experience at the Outside Inn at Niche Winery extends beyond the cabins themselves. Stroll the vineyards and visit the tasting room for a sample of their beautifully balanced wines.
